For the metal industry, There are some standard sheet sizes that can be easily processed and fit, as that’s important to utilize metal material as much as possible to reduce the amount of waste. With constant increasing costs of metal, high utilization of metal material is one of the key ways to be efficient successful for metal sheet fabricating and processing.                   In view of economical utilization, designers or fabricators should consider the most proper sizes before fabricating the metal sheet or plate. Sometimes you can just make your processed sheet metal with a special size larger than standard size, that means you need to waste material or cost more for the production. Or you can join two smaller metal sheets together but it is not the perfect solution, particularly when requiring aesthetics or perfection on your decoration.

The piece of metal with a thickness range from 0.5mm to 6mm ( 0.025 inch to 0.124 inch) is defined as sheet metal, and the thickness of metal piece is 6mm (0.124 inch) or more is known as metal plate. Metal plate with a critical thickness generally can not be processed on a turret punching machine, but rather a CNC machine.  

                  Difference Between Sheet & Plate Metal

                  There are different thicknesses available in the market, the major difference between sheet and plate metal is their thickness, and they are typically used for different purposes and applications according to the different strength and density requirements.

                  Sheet Metal
